Please help! I need to find EBP article about physical assessment of the heart

Published

Hi all,

I'm stuck in this assignment. For my skills lab I need to present an EBP article on heart assessment. I spent like 2 whole days in front of the computer trying to find one about heart assessment. It has to be fairly new too ( written after 2008). Muy school provides some good data bases for free. but still I can't find any new ones.

If anybody knows how to find EBP practice guidelines for heart assessment please let me know. Thank you in advance. Plaese I need at least something to present :-( :crying2:

Perhaps you need to narrow down your topic. General "heart assessment" is very broad and not likely to result in many articles you're interested in. What is it about cardiac assessment that interests you and what outcome are you looking for? Are you looking at pediatric or adult populations? Does your target population already have a diagnosed cardiac condition? There is a lot to think about!

For our evidence based practice research we set up our research questions in "PICO" format (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) and then conduct our literature search using these criteria. Learning to navigate the databases can be tricky and frustrating at first but you'll get the hang of it!

hi anirap, bdanders is right, you would benefit by narrowing your search. by entering search words "cardiac assessment" + evidence based practice on google, this article came up--it is probably more article than you had in mind, but it's about heart assessment and is evidence based. it is from the clinics of geriatric medicine journal called perioperative cardiac evaluation: assessment, risk reduction, and complication management. it is open access, and here is the url: http://www.sld.cu/galerias/pdf/sitios/anestesiologia/perioperative_cardiac_evaluation.pdf it's intense, but you may be able to glean a nugget or two for your assignment. good luck!

If it is not too late I found this. I don't think I can actually post the article, copyright and all that. You could use your school's DB to get it.
