I'm new here and I will go ahead and apologize if I am beating a dead horse with this thread, just wanted some input/advice from people currently using or have ever used any of these materials. I have spent several hours reading over previous threads about the recommended review books for the RN Exam. I have narrowed it down to 4 books:
1. Saunder's Comprehensive Review
2. Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment
3. Kaplan NCLEX-RN Examination w/CD: Strategies, Practice, and Review
4. Lippincott's Q&A Review for NCLEX-RN
I have read many, many reviews on each and they all seem to be really good resources. I'm fairly certain I will be buying the Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment review no matter what. The other 3 are what I am unsure of so I was hoping someone could help me. I have contemplated buying all of these...I think I am freaking out. haha. ANY input would be greatly appreciated!!!
Also, I already have the NCLEX 4000 at home and have read mixed reviews about using it as a study tool for the exam so any advice about this as well will help.
I think the NCLEX is giving me heart palpitations!!!
I passed the NCLEX this year 2014 with 75 questions 1st time.
I made a promise if I passed the test 1st time that I would not forget to give God the glory and pass the word to my peers on how I did it. So my advice is do at least 100 to 200 questions a day and review your weak area as needed.
The best book for me was Mary Hogann Nclex Review (Pearson) and Kaplan.
I did 100 book online questions in the day and 100 Kaplan questions at night for a month and a half everyday. That may be a lot for some but I'm an "average" student and wanted to make sure I passed. I spent money on other products to study with but didn't even use it. Trust me all you need is those two things listed they provide everything you need to know. The test was still a challenge but it can be done. So that it guys God bless!
Hi Nurse n heart, I was wondering how you remediated with your questions. I have to retake the NCLEX for a fourth time and have been using Kaplan. I don't want to let go of it, but I feel like i'm not remediating right. Would u mind sharing your remediation strategy? THank you so much in advance!
I'm also supplementing content with Saunders.
I had almost given up. I had taken Kaplan and Hurst but, I still was couldn't pass my Nclex. I got 265 questions just to find myself going home logging onto my computer to get the bad pop up. I had waited over 2 years to take boards (don't ask why) but I kept studying thinking that maybe if I dug really deep into every subject I would pass. I saw Nursity video and ordered the program. The big difference that I found with Nursity is that he simplified what you need to know. Instead of 4 hour lectures on bundle branch blocks he did a 27 minute lecture on core information. I just wish I would have found Nursity first.
I just wanted to put this out there for anyone wondering what resource is best to use to study for the NCLEX RN...
KAPLAN, KAPLAN, KAPLAN!!!! I did the online question bank.. was making scores in the 60's and 70's... I took my NCLEX yesterday and passed with 75 questions in less than an hour!! Kaplan does really well in preparing you for the more difficult questions.. and for me was much harder than the actual exam... I also did the Saunders app on my phone... I found this to be helpful as well...
