Please give me advice regarding my nursing career (Interventional Radiology)

Published

Dear nurses in the United States ,

I am thinking about moving to the US to live a full life as a nurse soon.

I think I will have no problem getting Green Card if i try as hard as I have done so far.

But, the problem is my nursing background...in Korea.

I had two years General Surgery Operation Room exprience as Surgical Assistant despite my nursing license in Korea. (surgical assistant is a legitimate nursing section in Korea).

I played a role as first and second assistant for various surgeries including robotic surgeries, pancreas, liver, colon, and all types of laparoscopic surgeries.

In addition, now I have been working at Interventional Radiology for another 2 years as a nurse.

However, what I found out is that here what I do as nurse at IR is quite different compared to Interventional Radiology Nurse in the US.

What I do for procedures is pre and post operation nursing, setting procedure tables, and assisting doctors as first assistant and. I don`t get involved with sedation because anesthesia solely does all the jobs related to sedation such as Ventilator, Anesthesia Medication and Sedation.

It feels like my jobs are more similar to Procedure Technicians in the US instead of IR nurses` jobs. Am I right?

Although I am pretty confident in playing a role as First Assistant during IR procedures for neuro and vascular cases, I have no background with critical nursing cares from ICU and ER. This means I would be not competitive as an IR nurse in the US.

what should I do? If i want to settle down successfully in the usa? as IR nurse.

I want to be an IR nurse there or at least OR nurse.

But, as you see, my nursing career is quite different compared to the US.

then,..

Should I go for CRNI and CNOR with RNFA to be fully equipped to get a job succesfully

there then?

hahaha... life is so complicated..

Let me have your valuable opinions please.
