#1. Pt. weighs 80kg. & has a order to infuse Bumetadine @ 12 cc/hr. Pharmacy sends the med in a sol. of 24mg of Bumetadine in 96cc/hr of .9NSS. What dose is being delivered?

12cc/96cc x 24mg/hr = 3mg/hr.

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!:typing

This is an oddly worded problem: You aren't given an actual concentration from pharmacy? 24 mg in 96 mL/hr isn't a concentration-- there's no way to determine the amount of mg per mL from that.

Is the "/hr" notation a typo on the 96 mL?

If I remember correctly from past problems, your instructors have a habit of giving you poorly or improperly worded problems, and this seems to be no exception.

I absolutely agree with you. I am practicing my med calc today. I came across this problem on our practice sheet & it took alot of time to figure it out. I just wanted to know if I am in the right ballpark with the answer... Thank you Hypocaffeinenmia.... I do appreciate it. I typed the problem exactly as they worded it on the mal practice sheet:D

It's impossible to even guess if you're even close to the ballpark without a concentration.

24 mg in how much NS?

If the total fluid volume is supposed to be 96 mL, then your answer would be good.
