Before asking about the job opportunities, look into licensing first because it takes way more than a year to transfer foreign licenses to Canada.

My license is in the works. I just need the jurisprudence exam and I'm done. I started the process way before I moved here.

The job market in Ontario is in a surplus cycle there are more local qualified applicants than jobs, it can take >8 months just to get a casual job. Do you have proof of recent practice as a RN? In Ontario, the CNO requires proof of recent practice within three years and in Alberta, CARNA requires proof of recent practice within 5 years.

Nursing shortage and surplus cycles are influenced by provincial economic and political factors. If you look at the provincial debt clocks, you will see that Ontario's debt is massive and if you follow media reports, you will see that there is a lot of pressure in health care to keep expenses within budget. The looming provincial debt is creating job precarity and people are hanging onto their jobs, which means there are fewer jobs available to newly qualified applicants searching for work.

My hope is that the economy will improve and there will more opportunities and greater job security for everyone who is currently struggling.
