Plan for my dream job?

I recently accepted a position on a mixed unit, med/surg/tele (mostly surgical patients). I have worked step down and straight tele. Though I am learning new things, this is not the unit I want to be on permanently. I hope to get into ER at some point. I am tired of job hopping though, have worked 6 moths at my last job, had to move due to family. This unit has some great aspects to it, but is not going to advance my learning enough for the ED. I do want to move within the facility. Should I wait until 1 year to try to transfer? Thanks for any insight!
