Piptaz and compatibility

Hi everyone,

Is Piptaz compatible with 4%Dextrose and 1/5 Normal Saline solution?

Thank you?

It can go in either Dextrose or Saline. Used it for years in both solutions and never had a compatibility problem. In Europe where it's known as Tazocilline the data sheet specifies that it's OK in both.

Thank you. In the ckn.org, it only Dextrose 5% and Normal Saline that are reported compatible, however, 4%Dex 1/5NS "was not tested". Could you please advise why?

Sorry, I misread your initial post.

I think  the solution you're referring to is what we call B26 or Polyonique here in France, or in the UK Dextrose Saline (with or without  potassium). Is your concern that you've got an IVI of this running and you want to know if you can run the Piptaz concurrently? The answer is yes, provided you've mixed it in the appropriate bag of either 0.9% Saline or 5% Dextrose. I've used this antibiotic for years and never had a compatibility issue..

It isn't compatible with Ringer Lactate (Hartmann's Solution). Otherwise you're fine.
