I am a LPN student at Pioneer and Pioneer is a part of MCC as basically a satellite to Penn Valley. They do not have a CNA course however Penn Valley does. The only nursing program that they provide is the LPN program and I HIGHLY ADVISE PASSING IT UP!! The labs are in shambles and the materials are REUSED OVE AND OVER AGAIN!!!! The instruction is not very organized and the instructors are not good at all. The only way I am getting through this is by basically teaching myself! However I have not heard about their surgical tech program nor their Paramedic Program, the EMT-B program is very nice (my fiance' went through it) and I wish I would have gone that route

Ive heard alot of the same about the ASN program which is at the Penn Valley Campus however they have a very nice lab. They dont have a waitlist persay but a first come first serve but if you apply now there are hundreds before you. They in the process of restructuring the program and are trying to purge old applicants. There are also more hoops you have to jump through, basically to try to discourage applicants, from what I see.

This is my opinion and someone else may say different. Untill I see some major improvements I would not even think about applying for Penn Valley. It saddens me that this program used to be so wonderful but now its crap and they dont care!

wow! that really sucks! I'm so confused by this whole process I must say! Why does it seem to be such a problem to get into an LPN or ASN program in particular? I don't want to be discouraged, because i've finally discovered what it is I want to do in life:o ... IS there any route you could recommend I take, any other really good nursing schools around here (kc,mo)? What about online nursing schools?

PS . Thank you for filling me in about Pioneer by the way, I had this student advisor call me and he basically went on about how wonderful Pioneer is.... yeah right!

Basically there are a lot of people trying to get into school that has very few spots. thats why it's so hard to do. I would just go ahead and get my basic associate of arts degree at Blue River and then Transfer to Graceland for your BSN. I wish I would have done this .As I understand it they work well together. Also In KS there is Neosho CO for the ADN (my FSIL is attending now). Those are the only two that I have heard that are decent.
