pinning ceremony participation

Published

Hello I would like some feedback from those who did NOT attend their pinning ceremonies by choice and those who did. The reason Im asking is that I graduate in April as an LPN and have decided against attending because of a few reasons. Do you think it is really a big deal?

I've thought about having a dinner with my family, friends, which include a number of nurses and have one of them pin me. What do you think? I value all opinions.

Thanks

Thanks for all the feedback.

I just don't think the pinning ceremony as planned reflects my accomplishments and struggles through this course. I'm trying

hard not be negative. As you all know, it's a struggle to get

through any nursing program. I feel (know) that our instructors

have been partial to some students. Certain students (especially

the ones who are most active and vocal about the pinning ceremony)

are ones who are the least qualified to become nurses. I know this

is my opinion, but I've witnessed cheating on tests, falsifying of records,

brown-nosing and lying, etc., and I've put up with things for this past

year. And now, when it comes down to it, I don't want to be a part

of this group. (Not all the students, of course)

I, along with others, have kept a very high grade point average with blood, sweat, and tears. The "cheaters" barely pass even with their cheating. I know it will catch up with them on NCLEX, but right now I just don't feel happy about my overall experience.
