Pima Community College Fall 2018

Anyone else apply?

I am so sorry girl, that sucks! I will probably apply to both programs and take whichever one will let me start first. I need to take a math class before I can apply to maricopa's program. How about you? Are you gonna keep applying? I guess you have to have near perfect scores to get in. Trying not to get discouraged. Ugh

Applying I Maricopa or Coachie won't work for me because of my kid's school schedule. I don't have family here, just me and my hubby. His work is not flexible so I have to juggle school and pick up kids and stuff. I don't know how long I should keep applying. When you start looking other options is hard to decide. For HESI, reading is my weakness because English is my second language. I thought about PMI but it is too expensive and you have to retake Bio, writing etc with their courses. I didn't think it was this hard to get into Pima nursing!!!

Right?! I guess it's because there are not many pre-reqs to apply so I think a lot of people apply. That is so surprising with PMI. I have never called there but all the other private schools I talked to said I could transfer in credits to them if I applied. That's so unfortunate...

wow. I got in! only thing that I think I have different from anyone I think volunteer experience maybe and I got a letter from my employer even though it isn't a hospital based job? Darn, I am really bummed to hear that though, better luck to everyone I hope I see you guys in the future, keep trying and trying next application is June, you never know!

CONGRATS to you!!!!! That is sooooo exciting!!!!

Awesome! Also I submitted closed to the deadline so that could've affected. For those who haven't heard from them, you might be on the alternate

Aww man, I'm so sorry you guys didn't get in. :( I feel like the grading rubric screwed some students over, especially those who took all of the other classes that were once pre-req's. If you don't mind me asking, what is your guys' next plan?

My plan for the past two years was to apply into the Pima-NAU CEP. They've changed the grading rubric once again and with the old rubric being on your GPA, Hesi, and reading assessment, I'm extremely nervous.

I took HESI again on Mar 9th and did much better, so I just turned it in with my application for Spring 2019 ADN program. Also I'm looking into some volunteering, too. I could've done that and turn the application in later but didn't want to wait too close to the dead line so I took a risk applying without volunteering or work experience. I thought about CEP program but I just can't pass the reading barrier >92. English is my second language. So hopefully I will get in node Spring (fingers crossed). If that won't work then I might have to start from LPN or change the Carrier to Respitaroty or Radiology or if I really want to be RN I might have to get a degree at PMI. But honestly i don't know what to do becauae they've been changing the rubrics so many times over the past years!

Yeah, if I don't get in in June, I'm not sure what I'll do.

Have you tried taking the Accuplacer reading practice tests? English isn't my first language either, so I have always struggled with reading. I retook the placement exam a few months back and took a bunch of practice tests, but the Accuplacer ones helped me the most.

I have practiced with accuplacer practice tests. Last time I got 91. I'll try again and see what happen! Thanks for the advice!!

Anyone else get an alternate spot? What are the chances of getting in?

I heard most likely everyone get in from alternative list. It's going to take about another month or so to find out. Last semester they took 31 from the list. Good luck!!
