an aneurysmal bone cyst of the right scapula. I was just wondering if any of ya'll PICU RN's have experienced taking care of this type of bone tumor?

I am a OR Nurse of 10 years and have never taking care of a pt. with this condition.

The tumor is 5cm (very large for a three year old) We will do a MRI, Skeletal survey and blood work this week.

He will have to see a pedatric orthopedic tumor specialist in San Antonio. He will more than likely need reconstructive surgery.

My little angel was asymptomatic until one night we were struggling to get his shirt off. The next day my wife took him to the pediatrician to get and x-ray and this thing was discovered.

If anyone has knowledge of this type of tumor please help me out with some answers.

Living with the unkown is hard. I dont know what the chances of this being secondary to something else more serious. From what I researched ABC, hemangiomas and bone tumors that are secondary occur more often in the ederly.

Thanks for your help!!

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you in this diffucult time.:kiss

Best of luck and good wishes to the little guy. I don't have any experience with this; just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you guys!
