Pickwickian kids

Antepartum/OB/well-baby nursery lurker here....

I have tried to do some research (for my own enlightenment, nothing more) about Pickwick Syndrome (or is it Pickwickian??) but none of my research has yielded any results.

We had an FLK in our nursery the other night that was having some issues so neo came over to take a look at him and said he looked Pickwickian but I had only vaguely heard of that & didn't remember anything about it. I've looked in my Care of the Sick Neonate, in my OB & peds books (I have Whaley & Wong), in the medical dictionary (couldn't believe they didn't have it there!), and under the thread on this forum about syndromes. No luck so far.

Is there anyone who can enlighten me or at least point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

Here is one of the links that comes up with a Google search:

Thanks for the info. That would make sense, as this was a rather big baby -almost 10lb -- with a huge soft palate and a uvula that hung down into his esophagus.
