PHSC 2016 Nursing Hopefuls

Going to jumpstart this topic!

Good Luck to all the 2016 hopefuls!

Hello everyone ! So I'm a PHSC student and I got so excited when I stumbled upon this thread! I am also trying to get into the January nursing program and was hoping for some insight from my peers. I took the teas in September and got a 67.3 as my total score. My cum. GPA is currently a 3.47. I'm not really happy with my teas score and am not confident I will get in but my friends all say that I most likely will get accepted. I applied for both the RN and the LPN program and I feel more confident getting into the LPN than the RN but I still have hope of getting the RN because I heard from previous years that people have been accepted with a 65. Also from reading this thread I learned that less people apply for the spring semester. Everyone's teas score is so high compared to mine and I'm feeling a bit hesitant. What do you guys think?

Good luck to you. I think we really don't know until people start getting accepted what the lowest score is and it's different each application period. All you can do is hope for the best. :-)

Also they only look at your pre req GPA

Also they only look at your pre req GPA

If you actually ask the school they won't tell you what they look at .. not sure where this composite score system came from but I've seen someone with a composite score slightly over someone else not get in and when the 2 compared their overall gpa the one with the lower composite had a better over so I believe they may take it into account a little.. who really know though!

As far as what they say on the site they only look at teas and pre reqs but like you said who knows what else they actually look at when they have there little meeting that decides our futures

Exactly lol.. maybe they are like wellll this one has 3.1 and this one 3.3 let's take the 3.3 :-)

Even though as you know since you've gone through nursing school before a gpa definitely Does Not make a good nurse ;-)

It's all about pass rates.

I wish it was more hands on when the nclex comes around I mean yes you should know what mess to give but how to give it the right way and not cut corners and bed side manner. Nurses I've encountered aren't good with bedside

Yup that's true!

I agree! I think getting in should be the same way too! bed side manor ...that's the issue with over worked and being under paid and they know nothing else and won't leave the field even though that's what they should do! I actually did 2 yrs on the floor and then left for case management with health insurance and I was an awesome nurse and loved my patients so much but management and the politics of nursing is just not what you expect... any way done with my rant :-)

Has anyone found out how many people applied for this Spring semester yet??
