PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all!! I'm starting this new thread in hopes of finding some returning or new applicants to PHSCs Fall 2016 RN orogram! This will be my 4th time applying 3rd in a row..... I'm planning on retaking my Teas to try for a better composite score.. will be applying to all available campuses for the RN transition program! :-)

Wow thank you! i will most definitely check that out!

Oh yes! Studying my butt off every day, both TEAS material and trying to get brushed up on LPN skills and all that stuff that's gone over right when the program starts!

That's great.. going to start again next week and going to try to make a few work shops st the school too.. oh man lpn skills I'm the worst with that.. I currently work insurance and getting on the floor again after 3 years kind of scares me but I know I have to do it.. :-)

Agreed! I've been working as an LPN part time, but in an ALF so I never have the opportunity to do catheters, trachs, etc. We will have to practice together!

I figured when we get in the first few weeks is in lab so I'm hoping they'll do a refresher for skills and plus YouTube lol I swear I made it through lpn with watching videos haha :-) for sure if we get in this time we got to be study buddy's :-)

I went to the first couple days of classes last August before having to leave the program due to family issues, etc. They did have a day or two where you could work with a partner/groups to refresh on skills, but the hard part is that the checkoff (which is one week in) is a lottery, so you don't know which one you will get! I'm going to be studying the videos very closely! Haha. I despise skills checkoffs!

Omg that's crazy I hated check offs in Lpn school too :-( guess if I get in I'll be studying before we start for sure!! Thanks for the heads up its a great advantage :-)

Does anyone have any Pros and cons on the route to take? meaning if you get in as an LPN or an RN.. the route is still the same if you want to eventually become an RN... but I dont really know what the big differences are (sorry if this a dumb question) haha

I would say go for your rn because it's so hard getting into the program if you get in the program then don't risk having to apply again later to the transition... but it is 2 whole years so if you want to start working for a bit while waiting on getting your RN then getting your LPN may be better for yiu... I think that's the biggest difference :-)

make sense!!! is it possible to work while going to school for LPN/RN? I heard that LPN is the harder route to go because of the curriculum but once you get into the transition you are more prepared than the RN's in their second year.

I would agree with that but it's all how well you do with time management I would think..me I have to work no matter what so I'll have to figure it out somehow

How's the studying going this week LPNtoRN?

Gosh not at all... starting tomorrow! I just finished a 2 week binge of Game of Throne lol... finally done so now I need to get with it :-) how about you?
