Philly Hostels, are they in a safe location?

Hi,

I am planning a trip to visit some nursing schools in Philly. I am short on cash and the hotels are pricey. I am thinking of possibly staying at one of two hostels. Does anyone know if they are in a safe areas?

One is the Bank Street Hostel, 32 S. Bank Street, 19106

The second one is Chamounix Mansion, West Fairmount Pk.

If you know anything about these or the location could you please help me out?

international students from summer camp i worked at stayed at banks street one---in center city near waterfront...near south street stores + not far from thomas jefferson.

bank street youth hostel

chamounix mansion youth hostel is over by philadelphia zoo area, public transport iffy.
