Hello!
I'm very interested in research and I know I would love to pursue this field of nursing at some point in my career. However, I'm just not sure what the benefits of getting a PhD over a DNP are. From my understanding DNPs also participate in research, their schooling is a few years shorter, and they are able to practice as an NP in addition to research. To me, it sounds like DNP is the way to go even if my focus would be in research... but there just aren't a lot of people who have PhDs who talk about their experience, so there could definitely be benefits to having a PhD over a DNP that I'm unaware of! If anyone can speak to the benefits of one vs another, I would love to hear your opinion!
