For pharm, I didn't really prep that much because like you, I had no idea what I was in for. Although, if you have a good teacher and read the book, you should have no problem. Pharm is one class that reading the book is a good idea. You won't have tons of chapters to read, probably only 1 or 2 for every class, so you can study and retain the information better.
Mostly, good-to-knows were side effects and signs of toxicity of each drug, and what you need to teach the patient such as not abruptly stopping the medication until talking with the doctor. Also, a lot from what I remember is the different classifications of drugs such as NSAIDS. For pointers, I know a few who used pharm flash cards with one drug per card with all the information on the other side like MOA's, indications, side effects, adverse effects, and interventions.

I am taking Pharm in the spring as well. I have read roughly 10 chapters just to get familiar with the language of Pharm. I have Pharm Note cards, and these Mnemonic device card set for Pharm. I still have to get my pharm drug book.

For pharm I didn't prep before starting the class. Drug cards are very helpful - you can either buy the ones that are done already or make your own with index cards (I made my own because it was easier for me to remember them that way).
