Pharmacology study tips?

Hi all, I am going to take Pharmacology, Medical Terminology, and Intro to Surgical Technology this semester. Remember, I said that the nursing program that I applied to was cancelled and I will be applying for the BSN program for the Spring? Anyways, I am not too worried about Medical Terminology as I have taken all the pre-reqs (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc. and have lots of experience as a hospital volunteer and CNA). I am a bit nervous about the Pharmacology class though. I was just wondering if any of you who have already survived it had any tips on studying. Did you use a lot of flash cards or use other ways to memorize? Is it mostly memorization other things to understand as well?

Thanks,

Thanks,

flash cards work well in helping to get the names of the drugs and what they are used for, when they are not used, etc. But the really important thing to do is get the concepts down on each catagory of drugs. If you know why they work and how they work it will help you. That is what I did and came out with an A. There are many test questions I was able to ferret out the answer because I knew the big picture.

It is almost impossible to memorize all of the drugs and everything about them for a test.

Hope this helps and good luck in class!!

Are you using Davis Drug Guide? The CD that comes with it prints out whatever info you want on most of the drugs. You can make a notebook and highlight what you need to remember. This is what I did. Got the highest pharm grade in the college. They don't call me "pharm queen" for nuttin 3_3_11v.gif
