So I have been a contract/1099 RN for a personal care, non medical home care agency. My title is RN supervisor. Basically equates to what a DON would be for Home Health. The care we provide is to help w people who have difficulty w ADLs. My concern is the state legistlature doesnt give precise info as to my role. Can other nurses working in this feild help me by tellng me how their experience is in this special feild? I only get paid per visit. I want to be in the office more and do more of the training but the owner is not respectful or knowledgable of a RNs role. It leaves me xurious if my license could be used illegally. I love the cts but have no benefits and pay is less than adequate. I habe been searching other jobs, but because there is no skilled nursing care and I'm just doing assessments and some leadership roles such as training, I don't know what to go into next. I just hope that someone out there can provide insight. Thanks for reading. Have a great day fellow nurses!!

Once worked for an agency where the DPCS only worked part of the work week. IIRC, she worked for another agency in a different capacity. I would suggest continuing to look for another position and leave this one entirely if you do not agree with the owner. He is taking advantage of you.

I have the same position and it is very vague what our role is. I started out doing patient assessments and still do some but now am DON and I charge of overseeing close to 100 patients and the CNA's skill Assessments as well as many other rolls. I am also feeling like my nursing judgement is not valued. I have been asked to do CNA training but they don't want to allow me the time to it properly. They don't understand what is involved to comply with regulations and want it done quickly and cheaply. They do not believe that they would be putting my license at risk. It infuriates me that they want me to do a job but don't believe all that is required to comply with regulations. If we can't resolve this issue I will be resigning. I feel your pain. Your job is very important. You are assisting a population of patients that are often not getting the help they need and can be an advocate for them by helping them obtain what services and equipment they need in order to stay in their homes. Many times they just want somebody to listen to them and you may be the only person they talk to all day.
