Peds Rotation

Published

How do you handle going to hospitals with sick kids? I am doing a rotation at a pediatric hospital, a lot of long term care for breathing and head trauma ( shaken baby sydrome! I would love to shake some of those parents). I am dreading it. It was so heartbreaking. I held back all morning and finally lost it at the end of the shift. :crying2: I commend the staff at those places that are so loving and cheerful and so so caring. I know I should have the attitude that I can go in and help make someone feel better today but all I want to do is cry. I am counting my blessings now ...jac:wshgrt:

i think i will probably be the same way. just take things day by day. how someone can hurt a baby is beyond me.

jjrz1037 - This is a great question, but I think you would probably get more answers if you moved your post to the General Nursing Student Forum. This is the pre-nursing student forum so even though most of the people reading this (myself included) would love to be able to answer your question, they haven't started their clinicals yet and probably can't help as much. Just thought this might help you some...
