I have worked in long term care for 30 years as an LPN. I'm thinking about doing pediatrics at a home health agency. I like children, but I'm scared to death to take care of them. I have questions about pediatrics. Is it hard or difficult? Can you give me any suggestions on how to care for children? Especially in vents because I have no experience in them.

Most agencies require a year's experience in peds before training you for vent cases. If they don't- just don't accept vent cases. They likely will start you out with trachs and g-tubes. You probably have experience with them from LTC, right?
Private duty is 1:1, with all the time you need to 'fluff and buff'. A very different pace. I like it as asecond job away from the ICU.
