Hi everyone,
I am looking for advice. I have an interview on Friday for a Pediatric Home Health Care agency. I am wanting to know what to expect in the Pediatric Home Health setting. Also, what is the pay like for home health care. I am currently a PICU nurse. I also train families how to take care of vent-dependent, trached, and GT children at home. All of my experience is in the hospital setting.
Thanks.:thankya:

It depends on the agency that you are hiring on with and the reimbursement method for the cases that you will be working. Some hh agencies pay their nurses set rates. Some base their pay on the type of case. Private pay, insurance, medicaid, etc., each with it's own rate of pay. You need to ask this at your interview. Don't be surprised if you are offered less than you made at the hospital. The standard answer (other than the general economics of how hha get their income) is that you are only working with one patient, so you should expect less. Your post indicates that you are very well qualified. Be certain to ask this: what are they paying the other nurses for the same position. Do not let them get your services cheap. Insure that you are getting at least as much as the other RNs with your qualifications. Good luck with your interview.
