Hello, I am going to be graduating from nursing school in a couple months, and I'm trying to decide what area of nursing to go into. I plan on getting a year of experience at the hospital where I currently work, and then I'd like to do some traveling.

My question is, is it hard to find travel nurse jobs with certain specialties? or example, if I went into pediatric ER, would it be hard to find a travel job? I'm really interested in working in this area of nursing, but if it's hard to travel with that specialty maybe I'll consider something else! Any input would be appreciated, thanks!!!!!

Specializes in ICU/CCU.

I usually hear about travel assignments for ICU, CCU, Stepdown, Open heart, PACU, Med Surg, and ER. If peds ER is what you truly want to do, then go with that. I'm sure you'll find a good travel opportunity for it. Good luck to you!

Please, please pick an area that you want to work in, not that you think you will find more travel assignments. You need to have at least one year of experience; and for peds specialties, most want at least two years of experience, if not even more than that.
