Hello L&D nurses!
Do any of your facilities have peanut balls for laboring patients to use? I saw them used during my L&D clinical rotation but they don't have them where i currently work. Im trying to secure a couple for the unit but not sure what size is best. Amazon sells a few they range in size but these seem to be the closest to what I'm looking for: 40cmX80cm; 45X90; 50X100cm.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hello! We use the peanut balls for every one of our labor patients with epidurals. It literally works miracles. We sometimes use them for patients without epidurals but not as often.
In my practice I've found that I'm always reaching for the smallest peanut ball for my patients. The bigger ones always seem to be too large and uncomfortable for my patients...the only thing is that I don't know what dimensions our smallest ball is. All of us avoid our largest peanut balls...I don't think I've ever even seen it used! :)

Thanks! This is great! I briefly looked at one of the videos on their site this morning and looks like for a majority of the positions they used the smaller one, the 40cm I believe. I'm sure it's dependent on the moms preference and her size as well though.
The huge one that the mom can sit on looks interesting also (70 cm). Seems more stable than sitting on the ball.
Is everyone mostly using these with epidural patients?
Thanks again!
