I am switching from Pediatric Private Duty to Adult hospice and I start sunday. Most of my nervousness has to do with the hand off from one shift to another. IN PDN I never had to do that because our shifts never overlap. I assume there is a narcotic count. I guess I'm just afraid that the offgoing nurse will be all eager to go home and now willing to go over the paperwork with me. Obviously I plan to go in half an hour before to facilitate this.
Also what equipment am I require to bring. In PDN I depending on the family would have to bring anything from just a stethscope to stethoscope, thermometer, pulse ox, gloves and sometimes soap and my own toilet paper.

Same as previously, mainly your own steth. Don't forget to bring a good book or something quiet to occupy yourself. You can expect to spend a lot of time quietly sitting by.
OK that's what I figured. I feel good about the change at least from the aspect of the agency I'm working for.
Did you change agencies?
