I know that this had been asked many times but what kind of PDA do you have? What do you think makes your a good one. I really want one that is easy to use and affordable. What are some good programs to put on it.

I am looking for one to use for school, it will be going with me to the hospital. I was reading on a websites earlier that some PDA's don't work with Vista, have any idea which one. The computer froze before I could read it all.

Thanks

Hi, I bought a Palm T/X and so far I really like it. I run Vista on my computer and didn't have any problems. So far, so good. I like the palm b/c easy to navigate and have SD expansion slot to add the "bigger programs". I myself am still trying to decide on a "nursing suite" of programs. FYI, in the forums page there is a forum for nursing gear which you can then select mobile nursing pda's ect. Has 100's of responses.

Good Luck. :)

I have an HTC Titan / Sprint Mogul, for most of Nursing school I had a Treo 650 running PalmOS, now its Windows Mobile.

I graduated this May and passed my NCLEX two days ago (got results today, yay!).

Two most important programs for you to have on your PDA.

Epocrates (meds and a lot of extras)

Lippincott Drug Guide

Hi. I personally prefer a PDA with Windows Mobil 5 or 6. That is because I can write things in Microsoft word or PDF format, and I can put it directly into my PDA. It connects to my Microsoft Outlook, so It downloads all my emails, contacts, and full schedule to my PDA. When I am at work, It also syncs with my GMAIL-- so when I am at work (or any internet connection) I can put my schedule into my GMAIL account's schedule, and it will sync to my PDA when I dock it at home. It's really wonderful.

I have an HP IPAQ Pocket PC! It's really wonderful.

Really dumb question know but how does it hook up to the internet. I know nothing about PDA's and I know no one that has one. It would be great to be able download my word stuff on it, since all my teachers had word notes I could take them any where.

I'd like to know how that works too and does it work w/a Mac? Thankyou

The right PDA is the one that is right for you.You have to decide what it is that you want. I can tell you I have a Palm Tungsten C- and the reasons I got it was that 1) it had qwerty keys- no stylus needed really, 2) it has Wi-Fi, and 3) it is compatible with Vista. I just finished ADN school in July and I downloaded epocrates to my PDA. It was a lifesaver. It is a drug guide that is free and is a great tool for any student. Good Luck!!

Hey Ashley-

The Pocket PC (PPC) comes with a docking station- it's a little stand that connects to your computer via USB cable. When you place the PPC on the cradle it syncs with information on your computer and the internet, depending how you set it up.

It basically syncs with Microsoft Outlook, which you have on your computer. So, you can set your schedule, contact list, and if you set it up you can download email from multiple accounts. For instance, my downloads my CON email and personal email-so I just dock it before I go to work/school and read my email later. What I was saying before is when I am at work and I dont have my PPC, I can pull up my schedule on gmail and make changes, and when I dock my PPC on my computer, it will look in Gmail for changes to my schedule.

There is a file that you can place Word or PDF documents and when you dock your PPC it will download it on your PPC , so you can read them later. You can even write a Word document on a PPC and move it to your computer later.

Let me tell you no matter what PDA you get, they are SO awesome. I could not keep organized with out it. I have my Davis Drug guide and my Mosby lab manual and Tabers dictionary--3 books I dont have to carry or flip through.
