PD About To Become Current

Hi All Nurses!

I am a Filipino nurse and my PD is August 30, 2005. According to the May/2011 VB, the next VB (June/2011) will advance 3 to 6 weeks so I am anticipating that my PD will become current in next month's VB as the date under PH being processed is Aug. 22, 2005.

My concerns are:

- I am a Singaporean PR and that the CP is at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore but I am currently working in a hospital here in Abu Dhabi UAE. I just had my vacation leave last month and may not be able to get another leave in time for the interview (just in case my PD do becomes current on June/2011). Is it possible to have the consular interview rescheduled at a given date and time?

- Another concern is that I have yet to pass the NCLEX (though the job offered to me does not indicate that I have to have the NCLEX immediately). Will this become a ground for the consul to deny a visa?

I hope someone can help answer my concerns and share their experience as well especially those who had their CP in U.S. Embassy in Singapore.

Do you have a CGFNS certificate? The reason being, one of the documents required during your consular interview is a valid visascreen certificate, and one of the requirements for visascreen issuance is passing the NCLEX/CGFNS exam, and of course you have to have your english test completed as well.

Now being deployed to work as an RN once you get to the US is a different story without passing the NCLEX you cannot work as an RN.

Rescheduling would be very difficult unless you have valid reasons rendering you completely incapable of attending, otherwise you have to set your priorities here, if you want to work in the US I don't see any reason why you shouldn't sacrifice and eventually give up your job in the Emirates. Remember the Consular Office have numerous applications to process besides yours.

I do have CGFNS/Visa Screen Certificate which I just renewed early last year.

Also keep in mind that the job market in the US is very scarce and even local experienced nurses are having a hard time finding employment. When moving from state to state it's wise to already have a job in line before quitting your old job. Since you're an international nurse it's going to be even more difficult. Good Luck

Thanks for the concern. Fortunately, my employer/sponsor has not abandoned us. As what has mentioned by mage82ph, I really need to take the NCLEX prior to moving to the U.S. as I will not be able to work yet as RN until I pass NCLEX. Thanks again! :)
