PCT- OB/GYN

Published

Hey guys! I recently have applied for the position of a PCT for OB/GYN for night shift. I have an upcoming interview with HR Jan. 3, 2018 and I had a few questions to ask! I was wondering what kind of questions will be asked and what to expect if I got the job. I have no experience in the medical field, but I do plan on going to nursing school in the fall to become an L&D nurse! I have been a Cosmetologist for four years and I'm wanting to do a huge career change! Help!!

I'm confused about the training a PCT goes through. Do you have any schooling or training in patient care?

Where I live, you don't have to have any experience the hospital trains you when you get hired.

Ok, I'd look at a lot of YouTube videos. They have very good ones for PCTs, CNA's, RN's, etc. But honestly I don't know what they expect of you?

The videos range from how to take blood pressures to how to apply monitors for mother's in labor.

I can't imagine what they expect of a untrained PCT?

Maybe the questions will be along the lines of how did you handle a stressful conflict with a customer or co worker?

Mostly the hospitals website says vitals, helping walk patients, set up rooms, getting snacks, helping with breast feeding moms, things like that helping bathe the babies, nursery, etc.

Specializes in PICU.

That's so cool! I'm actually getting an interview on the 3rd as well for PCT in med/surg. Good luck!
