so , now there telling us that if an SRNA or RRNA same thing right is assigned to a room on their own. that the case becomes a free case, is this true, ?????I knew this job was political but I never thought I would get sucked into it and it would keep me awake at night for the rest of my life
CRNA
My facility does not allow for SRNA's to "run" their own room. A SRNA is always supervised by a CRNA, be it across the OR room but we must be in there with them. Because of changes in Medicare and I assume other insurance providers, we must document on our chart "SRNA supervised 100% of case by CRNA".

not where i am. i run my own room with an MD who supervises up to 4 rooms. the only time a crna is on the case with me is when it is medicare.
Same here. No matter what insurance is paying. I have my own room, with an MD who supervises up to two rooms. The only time I have a CRNA with me is if there is extra staff or if the OR schedule is light.
Ditto. We were in rooms solo from early in our junior year. Sometimes we had only 1 MDA assigned and they would be able to bill 100%. Sometimes they had to cover 2 students at a time. I know there were times when they had to "take a hit" on payment but they still needed to run the OR. We did occassionally have CRNAs assigned when they had enough bodies around. Obviously that is the best financial situation for an OR that has SRNAs when the MD can sign for 4 rooms.
