Paying for nursing school

I have a bachelors degree already and have unfortunately used up all of my financial aid and loans. I currently work at UPS at night to recieve the free benefits and tuition reimbursment. The cost of nursing school at IUPUI is about $6K/semester. I am worried that WHEN (notice the positive thinking) I get in, I won't be able to pay for it. I looked into scholarships, but you can't apply until you have been accepted into nursing school. How are you (anyone reading this) paying for nursing school?

I also have a previous degree and had been paying for school out of pocket. My son and I are both in school now so that is an impossibility. I am able to get the Stafford loan, which pays for most of my tuition but not all. I can only borrow about $5500 a year but that covers a lot of what I need. I have to pay out of pocket for books and a little for tuition each semester. A lot of scholarships are out of our realm because you can not have a previous degree to apply to them, so double check before you spend all that time filling out apps. Good luck.

So far I've been paying for my non-nursing courses out of pocket. If I get accepted for the fall, that will give me until August to save enough money for tuition and books (around $10,000). I also work at a hospital that offers tuition advancement/reimbursement but you have to stay there at least a year.

I am in the EXACT same boat as you. I am going to do the ADN first and pay for everything out of pocket. Then I will do a RN-BSN program immediately after graduation. It will take a semester or two longer, but it saves a lot of money. It's a drag to go from a University to a comm. college but I already worked hard, got a B.A. (with multiple honors), was inducted into three honorary societies, tutored biology at my University and became level III certified (the highest attainable), so I've learned....I don't have anything to prove to anyone I have already achieved a great deal more than most people so what if I have an associates degree before the BSN...
