Pay and nursing ratios in tulsa OK

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hi,

My fiancé got transferred to Tulsa and now I am looking for a RN job. I cant seem to find the salary/ pay rate anywhere. Can anyone tell me the pay rate for an RN (BSN if it matters) with about 1.5 years of experience? I am looking at St John and St Francis hospitals. Do they offer things like sign on bonuses or weekend options to add to the pay? Also, what are the nursing ratios like in those hospitals for general/ tele units? I am living in Chicago now and I am loving my 5 patients on night shift!

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

With 1.5 years of experience you can expect to earn in the low $20s per hour at most of the local hospitals. In that region, 6 patients to 1 nurse on a telemetry floor is common.

Specializes in Cardiac, CVICU.

Pay is in the low to mid 20s for new nurses. St. Francis pays the most out of all the hospitals, but not that much more than St. John's. It's only about a 2 or 3 dollar difference tops, so it really isn't a compromise. (This is what I've been told for new grads.) Although, both are good hospitals!

From what recruiters and friends in my nursing program have said, St. John's offers about $7500 sign on bonus for new grads and St. Francis offers $8000. I don't know the stipulations, but I'm sure it is at least a 2 year contract (which isn't bad).

There are also a few other medical centers in Tulsa that are good, but just don't seem to be as competitive. (They are just smaller.) OSU teaching hospital and Hilcrest seem to be okay. Because OSU is a teaching hospital, they take on patients with little to no insurance and the center has a large ER department to fill the underserved in Tulsa. (My pharm professor works there one day a week and seems to like it.) I don't know much about Hilcrest, but it seems to be just a smaller medical center.

There is also Cancer Treatment Centers of America; my fundamentals professor worked there for most of her career and loved it there.

Thanks. I am interviewing tomorow for a couple units at st francis. If I get the job, I will be making the same amount I make now without shift differentials. So at least a 10,000 pay cut. I should also try St. John to see if the relocation/ sign on bonus is better. I guess it's all in the name of love!

I would really look into hillcrest. I was offered jobs at all the other main hospitals and accepted hillcrest. They offered a 7k signon. St. John's only offers tuition loan repayment. Hillcrest pays OT at 36 hours and pays $10-20 extra per overtime hour. I am so excited. They have really changed hillcrest in the last few years. It's def worth your time to look into it. You can email me as we'll.

Hi, I was wondering if you are still working at Hillcrest? I am planning to move to Tulsa after I graduate in May and trying to seek out which hospitals are best to work for.
