Hi all Ive decided on becoming an rn but Im debating on whether or not I should take the fast route to jump start my career and get an Associates degree or go into a bsn program which is going to take longer to complete.
So my question is in central Va or actually any part of Va is there a pay difference between bsn nurses and adn nurses?
Thanks in Advance

At MCV and UVA the pay is greater for BSN grads. No pay difference at Sentara

The pay difference will not be that different at hire for new grads (less than 50 cents an hour). The opportunity to advance after the first year is greater for the BSN student at most institutions

I live in northern VA but have my license in several states.....at my current hospital the RN pay is the same regardless of degree type, however last year they gave all the BSN nurses a $1500 bonus check in January. I am currently looking into BSN programs now because so many hospitals are now asking for BSN applicants on their job postings. I feel like getting my associate's was great to get started working faster but now it's holding me back from being considered for better positions...if I could do it all over again, I'd get the BSN right from the start and get it over with all at once.
