PAX exam question

Published

Hi everyone! I'm finally applying for LVN school, and I'm so excited to be taking the steps towards my dream. For the school I'm applying to, we have to take the PAXPN exam, can someone please give me some insight on that? (Ie:what did you think of it, etc,) Also, does anyone know of some free practice sites I could use to help review for it. I know there is a review book, but unfortunately money is tight right now and I just don't have the extra money. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

I took the PAXPN back in jan. I made a 120 and our minium was 110. I got accepted and start in july. Its 3 parts. English,Math and science. I used the PAX-RN review guide and it in my opinion was the best practice i could have gotten. I talked to one of the girls in my class and she said the PAX-PN study guide didnt help her much but she scored a 120 as well. I know when i was studying i searched and searched for any help online and couldnt find anything. I understand money is tight but if its at all possible you can find the book online for $35. If you cant i suggest if your weak in math ...practice practice. Thats where i was weak in and got a friend to help me and that was my highest portion. You cant use a calculator. As far as the math... Alot of.percentages and decimals. The english portion...well i didnt even know where to start preparing for that. Ive always been pretty good at english. There was words on there that ive never seen in my life lol but the study guide suggests that you learn prefixes. As far as the science portion...well they can take that anywhere they want. From anatomy to chemistry to science about plants. Hope i helped some. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the tips! And congrats on your acceptance. My school doesn't count the science portion, on the math, reading and vocabulary. I'm pretty refreshed in math, I just finished a semester of math labs for some extra credit hours and it was a great review. As for the vocabulary portion, (Atleast I believe it's vocabulary?) do they use the words in a sentence? Ill have to do further searching on the review books, the website my teacher gave me the book was around $65. $35 is alot more reasonable.

I did not take the PAXPN but just recently took the PAX RN and in my opinion it was hard. I would definitely try and get the study guide if possible because on the PAXRN the vocab was hard. They did use the words in a sentence on most but I still hadn't heard of most of the words LOL. Good luck and let us know how you do!!

I'm nervous!!! Lol, I will definitely look around and see what will be the cheapest route for the book :) ill check back in after I take my test, it should be sometime in the July timeframe. How did you do on the exam?

I made a composite of 134 and 94%!! That is on the RN though and I truly don't know the difference in the PN and RN. Good luck with the studying and the test!!
