20 to 25 skilled Medicare rehab patients in the nursing home setting is not unusual or unsafe. If you have no other employment prospects, I would accept the job offer, roll with the punches, and learn as much as you can from the experience you'll be getting.

I did it as an LPN in several facilities while finishing up my RN. I liked it because it was 8 hour shifts. I'd work doubles sometimes to make extra money. They go by quick. I cried the first 3 months when I started because they all take 15-20 pills easily and for 20 patients it seems like it's physically impossible. But my mom (who is also a nurse) said to give it 90 days and she was right. Not only do you have everyone's medications memorized by then but everything pretty much stays the same for a good length of time which makes your job easy. You get faster in time. After a few months I was practically ready to be the charge nurse. Not only was I efficient at my own tasks but I was able to help coworkers with their jobs and go above and beyond for patient requests. Time was the only factor between the crying new nurse and the nurse who was practically running the unit.

I work as an RN now in acute care hospital and this is another story but most days I wish I was back in the SNF. I miss it. Enjoy!
