Patient with no functioning taste buds

Hello

I am a homehealth aide and the patient I work with is older and her appetite is not good, mainly due to no functioning taste buds. I was wondering what kinds of foods might help, if any her to eat. She eats mainly soft type foods.

What are the other restrictions on her diet?

Can she smell anything?

Is she taking meds that cause anorexia?

I am an aide helping her at home, so i don't have access to her meds. She is taking many medicinations and I know she takes meds for arthritis. She recently had aortic value surgery back in May.
