Patient Care Tech Question

Published

Hi,

I have my CNA and will be taking my Patient Care Tech classes in Sept.

Can anyone tell me if there is a demand for PCT jobs? What the pay is and where to go? Also is it worth taking the PCT course?

Thanks

Buford

Many say not to bother getting the PCT, just get experience as a CNA and the PCT job will come anyway. I took both and got hired with people for the same job that only had their CNA but they had experience. St. Joesephs will pay around $10 (day) to start and Wellstar pays $9 (day) to start.

I think it depends on where you work as to whether it is worth it or not to get your PCT. At one hospital I worked at PCT's and CNA's did the same job but PCT's got payed a little more money. But there is definately a demand for PCT's and CNA's. From my own experience and classmates who also work as PCT's, I have found that the pay in the atlanta area is anywhere from 9.00/hr to 12.50/hr for day shift. (a little higher on nights and weekends.)

Good Luck.

Where do you get PCT certification? I am thinking of taking Lanier Techs CNA course but how is this different from a tech? Where else can you get training for these?
