Patho

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So I will be taking patho in the winter and there is only one professor at my college that teaches it (this school is known for their nursing program and there is only one patho prof...go figure) anyway I hear that class is intense and wanted to know what some of you did to get by. Did you buy one of those study guides they sell at bookstores? I'm kind of excited because I LOVE learning about the human body and diseases. But I'm also nervous because of what I have been hearing about the class.

If you did well in a&p you will be fine. The first 7 chapters are like a review for a&p1. I am taking pathophysiology this semester and I am enjoying it!

Good day, natmanzo:

I'm taking pathophysiology now, and on chapter 12 we are finally doing a review (so as others share, keep in mind that schools are different, professors are different, and there are different books in play). It will depend on your professor and book as to whether x chapters are a review or not a review. Compared to every other science class I've taken, pathophysiology is the hardest class I've taken to date. We have exams every single week covering multiple chapters with the test questions being NCLEX style including SATA (select all that apply) questions. The questions range from understanding lab values to clinical applications, clinical signs, symptoms, treatment, etc. of disease, understanding pathology, etc.

While I'm enjoying the class from the perspectives of it being extremely challenging, preparing me for the actual RN program as well as the NCLEX (from a point of view), it is also a class that involves a lot of stress in terms of doing one's best to master the material. I've posted various youtube.com playlists and videos on allnurses.com if you search under my username and the word "pathophysiology"

Thank you.

Do you think that if it is the only class I take, I can do well? I'm done with my pre-reqs. It's the only class I have left.

Good day, natmanzo:

I'm taking it with abnormal psychology, and doing well in both; tough pathophysiology is the harder of the two, and as I shared the hardest class I've taken to date. So you should do well if that's the only class, and you put in the contact time.

In addition to a variety of youtube.com video's I watch/listen, I use https://evolve.elsevier.com/ as well as Huether Pathophysiology Online (using the module associated with the chapter we are covering).

Thank you.
