Path to FNP

Published

Hello All,

I am currently and ADN student and will graduate in 2010. My goal is to become a FNP.

Can anyone please tell me the route(s) I can take to achieve this, once I graduate w/ my ADN degree?

My school offers an ADN to MSN program, but the only specialties the offer are: Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Public Health Nursing. If I enter into one of these specialties and graduate with an MSN, how much more schooling do I need to be certified as an FNP? Would it be easier (or wiser) to obtain my BSN instead and then go from there?

I'm so lost! Please help!

Thanks!

I was an ADN who did the traditional ADN to BSN to MSN, etc.. I always advise that if you KNOW for sure you want the FNP look for an ADN to FNP program. Do a search here and I think several threads should pop up..

Thanks so much!
