Passed the NET...

Hi Everyone. Well, I passed the NET test. Now I need to get three references and write an essay on why I want to be a LPN. Any advice on what references to use or what to include in the essay? They suggest that I use clergy, teachers and bosses. I am not a regular church goer, I have been out of school for 20 years so my teachers don't remember me and I have been self employed for 15 years. Ugh. I don't know who to use as references. I have many clients that are nurses and doctors. Do you think I should use them? They clearly state that I can not use family or friends. After all these steps, I have to go for an interview. I really, really want to get into this school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Colleen.

Congrats!!!:yeah: Way to go.:balloons:

Congrats :) I just took the NET today too!

:balloons: congrats on passing the net!! :balloons: i took it in april and was so nervous about it! i am also trying to get into a lpn program. i work at a dr's office so i got references from the dr's that i work with. i would think that clients would be good, because they know you on a professional level. i had my interview on monday and felt like throwing up on the way the and the way home! it actually took me like 2 days to recoup from it!!! i am supposed to hear back by next week whether i get in or not! where are you applying to and in what state??? i am applying to tennessee tech in athens, tn. well, good luck and let me know how it goes!!

Congratulations...

I would try to make at least one of those letters from someone in the medical field. Ask one of those Dr. or Nurses that you feel you have developed a good repore with. As for the essay, just sit down and write a list of reasons why you want to become a nurse and what you think you have to offer to the field, from a personable and caring standpoint and you'll do swell. Congrats again on the NET exam.

Congrats on passing the NET! I find out next week how I did...I'm so anxious! As far as your refernces go, I would suggest your clients, since they know you professionally and maybe a business buddy or someone of that nature. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the replys. I think I will use a couple of my clients. I am a little scared because I have to trust that they will actually take the time to fill out the forms and send them in. I also may ask my family doctor. We have known him for years.

For anyone waiting for their NET results. I thought I did really bad on the reading. I came very close to running out of time. I bought the study book and read it a few times. I also took the practice tests. However, I never timed myself taking them. They only give you 30 minutes for the reading. I found this really hard. Thank goodness I bought the book. I would not have passed if I didn't. I ended up with a 69 on the reading. Apparently this is passing. Colleen
