Passed NCLEX!

Published

Took NCLEX yesterday for the first time and after 165 questions and 3 hours, the computer shut off. I was nervous about this number because I still realistically had 100 left to go. I did the PVT afterwards and got the good pop up. Today, my license showed up on the Pennsylvania board of nursing website!!! I can't believe I am finally a nurse and I know that I succeeded in part by all of the help I have found on this website.... So a huge THANK YOU to everyone!!! And good luck to future NCLEX takers!

Congrats nurse. U have alot sata? Any suggestion or tips on how to study ?

Congratulations!

Thanks! I had about 25 SATA and a ton of priority. I used Saunders Comprehensive Review book and disc. I didn't review a lot of content, just did questions daily and read the rationales. The test itself wasn't too bad, it's just important to read everything carefully and pay attention to key words like "high" and "low". Lab values are a must to know!

Congrats...how was the sata? I'm so horrible at those

They actually seemed pretty easy, and I'm usually awful at them too. Who knows if I got them right or not, haha. But, they really didn't seem as bad as I expected them to be! A friend of mine tested the same day and about 50% of her exam was SATA, and she said it was really hard. I guess just make sure you practice some of those along with the regular multiple choice and other alternate-style questions!

So the Saunders cd test question 5 were the questions you used? What were your scores for Saunders?

Yeah, probably about 95% of my preparation was solely from the Saunders book/disc. For me, it depended on the topic that I was focusing on-- if I did poorly on the book quiz, I would review, then do a few quizzes on that section on the disc. Overall, my score after about 2,000 was 75%. I only did 2,000 practice questions prior to NCLEX. My school always told us to be exposed to 5,000... But that was a little unrealistic for me (work, vacation, etc. prior to NCLEX). I think it's different for everyone though.

The questions on NCLEX, to me, resembled the questions in my Saunders book or ATI (I don't know if your school used ATI or not). I'm usually not a very good test-taker and SATA aren't my favorite. But I got through it, and so can you!
