Hey guys,

Just passed the NCLEX-RN. To those people who were in my situation before kindly help me.

Here are a few backgrounds about me:

a. I currently hold a US B1/B2 Visa (Tourist)

b. Passed the NCLEX-RN

c. with 1 year experience in a community hospital

What do I do next to gain employment in the U.S.? Should I take TOEFL or IELTS..? Should I do the VISAScreen..?

THanks guys!

I would not apply yet for visa screen certificate as you have a long long wait currently ahead of you for a visa. You are affected by retrogression and a Tourist visa will not make it any easier for you, You can look for a employer and file I140 but that is all you can do. A year's work experience probably doesn't meet H1b requirements

Is that one years hospital experience as a volunteer or paid experience? If it's paid experience, make sure you keep that job because that's what's going to get you experience. Volunteer experience wont even count at this point. Right now as Silverdragon stated there's a long wait for a visa for the US. Some people have been waiting more than 5 years. So make sure you have the paid experience and keep that job as long as you can. For a H1b visa those places are few and far between and you must have be a specialist of some sort usually with extra certifications. Plus with the economy right now in the US there's no need to import when they're laying off nurses left and right. If you really want to come to the US, you can apply for a visa anyway, and wait. But you might also want to look at going to another country because as of right now, the US isn't an option. Good Luck
