Passed NCLEX-RN 2nd Time Around

Published

Failing once does not mean you can not take it again and succeed!

After failing my first NCLEX-RN exam only a mere 45 days prior to taking my second exam, I am nervous, anxious, and just wanted to get the 2nd time over with. I was so down on myself and just felt like a complete failure at life, but after reading other discussion on this site I decided I could pass the second time around! The first time I went with a friend who got up after only 75 question and FREAKED OUT from that moment on!

My first attempt consisted of me taking a content based review coorifice given by Rutgers University (NJ) and about 50 practice questions a day until my test. My first test went to about 233 questions - failed.

Just this past Thursday I took the exam again, exactly 45 days after taking my first, and passed with the dreaded *265 questions*! This time I tried to stay as calm as I could, even when I realized I was going in for the long haul. This time around I took the Kaplan online course, followed their syllabus, and did 100-150 questions a day until my exam.

Tips-

DON'T go with a friend

DON'T study the night before

DON'T make it bigger than it is - if you fail you can take it again

DON'T do more than 150 practice questions a day

DO stay positive

DO stay calm

DO buy a computer CD with practice questions (I used Saunders)

DO take a review course (Kaplan & a content based on if you can)

DO do pracitice questions as well as studying content

Congratulations! Thanks for posting your successful story! God bless:)

Congratulations on your success! :coollook:

Congratulations! I plan on doing more than 150 questions a day because I usually study 8-12 hours a day. Is that okay?

Congrats to you...

Just remember to read the rationales as well. And remember to take some breaks during your 8-12 hour study day ;)

Everyone's study plan is different because different things work for different people - this is just what I myself did but do you :) I simply did not have time to study 8-12 hours a day. I studied about 2 hours a day but if studying longer makes you feel comfortable by all means do it! And I agree take breaks.. Also reward yourself in some way at the end of your study sessions because studying is hard and long and you deserve a reward. GOOD LUCK!
