I did a lot more questions than content review in Kaplan they told us you already have alot of nursing knowledge you just need to be able to apply it to the questions. I think kaplan and saunders helped alot more than ncsbn. i got ncsbn because a coworker said i should, i thought it was ok.
Good job Janef,
Unfortunately for me, I wasn't so lucky, I failed my first attempt and I'm preparing for my second attempt. I'm devastated and don't know what to do. I called kaplan but their next class doesn't start until june and I have to take the exam by April or else I will lose my job.Any advise? i have both the kaplan and the Sauders and thy are very helpfuyl. I think I took my board too soon and I didn't have time tostudy enough questions, besides I'm a very bad test taker and it frustrates me. I feel like I have no directions and I'm afraid I'm going to fail again and that makes me nervous. Has anyone be in my situation? I could use some advise and motivation.

I've been in your shoes before. I tend to slack off during my review days. My concentration limit is 1-2 hours and after that I get to be sort of tired so I usually tend to do other things. I felt like my study habits are not enough for me to pass nclex.
So what I did was whenever I feel tired I take a break and rest my head for a few mins and get back to studying again. Just like you I am a bad test taker so in my 4-6hours of studying half of that of that is composed of practicing practice questions and the other half reading thru my notes and etc.
May I suggest La Charity to you? It is a great help for prioritization and delegation. Also the random fact throwing here in allnurses is a HUGE, HUGE help. Better introduce yourself to SPIDERMAN, MRS.WEE, VCHIPS and My Chicken Hez TB. :)

Peace2uall,
I can't really say i know how u feel because i have not taken mine yet but all i could say is that u just have to forget your first exam and focus on this one u are planning to take in April...Just calm down and take a deep breath..and say to yourself 'i can do this' just believe in yourself and i knw u can do it....smile and smile......As illbeanrn said, get LaCharity is a very good book, and they have free nclex 3500 on this site which u can use to practice questions..do more question that way u will learn how to apply it because u already know the content and make sure u read all the rationale whether u get the answer right or not.. read both right and wrong rationale that helps u answer another question that u will incounter..u can really do this...we all can do it...![]()
Same here. i have been staring at my computer for 4 hours now and i have only answered 75 questions.. i need motivation and focus to go on...
Best of luck to all of us! Congrats to judyjr ![]()

Those are infection control mnemonics. For droplet, airborne and contact precautions. Those are really helpful mnemonics. Goodluck! ![]()
By the way, those are included in the sticky thread called Random Fact Throwing. Aside from those tips, you could also see and learn a lot from that thread. :)

I took the Nclex on 3/2 for the first time passed with 75 questions. I did the Kaplan review course, and Saunders Q+A I did about 600 questions. I also took the 3 week NCSBN review. I went to the test site prepared to take 265 if I had too. I wore stretch pants a tee shirt and sweater and brought a snack I told myself that if by 75 the computer didn't stop I would take a break pray regroup then go back for two hrs and take the mandatory break. when I started the test I was really nervous the first few questions seemed so hard
then I started to get questions where I definetly knew the answer and then I got to the 75th question pressed submit and the screen went blank.
I know alot of people say that they left feeling sick or they cried but I was very calm, I felt good.
