Hello!
First time posting on this website. Throughout nursing school I did not use this website much, but when I had taken the exam I was looking for any reassurance I could find!
I was able to pass in 75 questions which I found quite shocking. I always found myself to be a better test-taker which helped compensate for any knowledge gaps.
From what I remember, I had many SATA questions and priority questions.
When it comes to studying or preparing for any exam, I find it best to study the material the way it would be presented on the exam itself. That being said, I only used the sylvestri book to do practice questions ESPECIALLY on the online resource.
I did many practice questions and customized them to suit my needs for what I felt I personally needed to review. I was able to customize practice questions with instant feedback and reading rationales. (Example: If i was going over cardiac I would select adult cardiac, pediatric cardiac, and cardiac medications)
There are many ways I played with the sylvestri online resource to help me study, and I felt it was the best option for me. I used an older edition in my med/surg, peds, OB, and mental health courses and it is VERY helpful.
My method was doing practice questions, read rationales, and listening to classical music (specifically Mozart and Bach). Everyone is different, but I will say that ROUTINE is the most important to obtain the highest results.
If there is any advice I can give it would be to:
- No matter what external stress is present, study diligently and make it a casual and routine part of life
- Whatever resource you use to study, do practice questions on a computer because that is how nclex is presented. I feel it helps improve test taking skills as well
- Don't let the experience of others' sway your confidence
- Understand that it is IMPOSSIBLE to know everything
- Read exactly what the question asks and trust your instincts.
- DO NOT be intimidated
For me, becoming a nurse changed my life for the better. Passing this exam was absolutely do-or-die for my situation. My car was totaled by an uninsured driver, I had to quit my job, and money is always an issue especially for a post-grad. I am not privileged by any means, but I am lucky to have family and friends that were supportive in more ways than one.
I have been crying a lot because it is an amazing time in my life. Everything I have worked for will soon yield results. I was a bad student until I started taking my education seriously when I started college.
If I can do it, so can YOU!!! Have faith and I hope what I have posted was helpful!
Happy nursing!
I am adding a poll for my own insight.
I realize that I posted a similar thread prior to this one. I figure I would announce it before I get trolled. I thought it didnt post but it is under another topic forum under "NCLEX". So technically it isn't my first post on the website!
