Passed HESI, failed A&P section.

I took my HESI A2 yesterday and I passed it. I made A's on almost everything, but I failed the A&P section. I have taken A&P 1 & 2 and I was using the HESI assement guide, as well as the McGraw-hill practice tests guide. I feel like these two guides prepared me very well for most sections. I went from not remembering how to do math without a calculator, to nearly making an A on the math section, but only due to some conversions slipping my mind. My strongest subject has always been English, so I performed very well on the grammar/reading/vocabulary, and made a 860 on the critical thinking. So overall, my score was not too bad. But looking just at my A&P section, I definitely need to retake the HESI and study more. There was a lot of cardiovascular (a lot of artery/vein questions that were very specific) and endocrine (glands and hormones) questions. I know I did not study enough for this section, but I did go over the guide multiple times and I know many of the questions I got were not in the guide.

I am retaking the HESI A2 in the middle of March (60 day wait) and I must get a good grade on the A&P section to feel confident about sending my application for the nursing program in at the very end of March.

After taking it, I had read that the HESI pocket prep app had everything you need to know on it and that people were passing this section with at least a B from only studying the app. Can anyone confirm this before I spend $15 on the app, or is there any other recommendations for studying for the A&P section? Anything helps! Thanks in advance!

I used the pocket prep app before my HESI A2 and found it very much worth the $10. I did have a few A&P questions on my test that weren't covered in my review and didn't do as well as I would have liked but not too upset with a 88%. I'm still scratching my head a bit about my A&P section really. I was told it would be 25 questions, I had 30 but my final score says 25. Not sure how they determine which 5 questions don't count vs what I got right and wrong. Oh well.

I too used the app and liked it. I scored a 92 on A&P - and felt like the app covered most of the info, but there was definitely information in there that I pulled from having taken A&P1 and Medical Terminology.

As for the 30 questions, they put in 5 sample questions for future tests - you never know what ones they are. It was the same for the other sections. They don't count against your score if you miss them, they are just testing them out to use on future exams.
