Passed AANP first shot - It can be done.

I've been lurking the forums for quite a few months now - reading the other tester's stories and tips... So, I thought I'd return the favor and post mine.

As of yesterday, 11/17/17, I passed the AANP certification exam first shot.

Four weeks before graduation.

150 questions.

Completed in 78 minutes.

Back in April I purchased APEA's online review and watched Amelie cover the topics along with my courses when we were covering them in class - This simplified things and made it much easier to understand. I also bought six months of APEA's QBank. I started taking 150 question practice tests (about one per month) up until September - I was average in the low 70%'s at that time. Our school required us to buy it again (same thing) so they refunded a prorate on my own account. I took a few more quizzes in QBank. Our school made us take an APEA pre-predictor exam (made a 68% on it) and a post-predictor exam (made a 70% on it).

I bought the Leik book, but never read it. I bought their phone app (FNP Q&A) and just took all of their practice questions. By the time I completed all 600+, my overall average was 73%. I took about four practice quizzes on BoardVitals and averaged a 72%. I also bought the PSI practice test and made an 80% on it (it's 75 retired AANP questions - some were still live on my test actually).

I attended an APEA live review in Houston last weekend (11/12 - 11/14), got my authorization to test on the afternoon of 11/14, and signed up for the first open slot near me which was 2:30PM on Friday 11/17.

I felt pretty good during the test. If the answer doesnt jump out to you, you can usually stop and think and figure out why most of the other answers are wrong or dont apply. READ CAREFULLY. Don't skim, don't be a "biter." Take deep breaths... roll your neck and crack it a few times... and don't stress.
