Passaic County Technical Institute LPN

Updated:   Published

Is anyone familiar with the LPN program at Passaic County Technical Institute? They will be starting and evening class this fall, anyone planning on applying? The tuition is alot less than some of the other schools I have looked at, does this mean the program is not as good?

Hi,

I am not a LPN, but a RN but do know that this program has been around for over 25 years, so the program is established. New schools, usually have some "kinks" to iron out when they are first established as told to me by my friend who attended a new LPN program a few years ago (Hohokus). If I were you I would take the opportunity if you are a Passaic County resident and save the yourself the burden of debt when you graduate. My friend is still paying off $17,000 for the LPN program she took at Hohokus. Remember you will all sit for the same test. If you choose to go on for your RN somewhere down the line, choose a well-established, accredited nursing program like Rutgers if you so choose. Hope this helps.

 Passaic County Technical Insitute for LPN is a horrendous program! The teachers are condescending, irritable and irrational *******. They will tell you one thing and do another. Not to be trusted. Many students with fantastic grades have been thrown out of the program for rediculous reasons. Some after almost completing the whole program! Imagine getting close to graduation after putting in hours and hours of studying and hard work and being tossed on a dime!!! They make it much more difficult than it is. Cost means nothing. Do your research. PCTI is bad news. I'm amazed it's still in operation.

Nurse Todd have you attended that program? I know some people who did some years back and did very well there. If the school is accredited they have many standards of conduct and performance and the nursing program, generally, is not an easy breeze through course of study. I am sure there are scorecards available to find out how well the students are doing. One place to check is the NJBOD. Also, prospective applicants should ask what are the sizes of the classes, The pass/fail ratios ratios of the graduating class? In my estimation, the LPN course should be the foundation to pursue more education for an RN license, as LPN positions are limited in their scope of practice and employability.
