What do the different part-time positions mean? I have found one that says "PT Flex .2 plus standby" and I'm not really sure what that means. I have also seen .5 PT, part-time reduced, and a few others... I'm just wondering what kind of hours I might expect when choosing jobs to apply for. Google wasn't helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Part time flex .2 plus standby means that you'd be guaranteed 8 hours a week and you'd basically be on call the rest of the time. They'd have to pay you on-call premiums, which aren't generous, for those hours that you're sitting by the phone. ONA-affiliated facilities pay $3.30 an hour stand-by and $4.90 on statutory holidays. If you're called in they pay a 4 hour minimum at time and a half.
.5 means half-time or 20 hours a week averaged out over the pay period. I haven't seen "part-time reduced" before.
One thing to keep in mind is that hours of work are never exactly 40 hours a week. You aren't paid for meal breaks so an 8 hour shift is paid at 7.5 or 7.75 hours depending on the contract.

Thank you! Is there a certain amount of days that I'd be on call? Is there a min/max for days on call/week?
I can't answer that specific to Ontario. Out here the contrat stipulates:
Except with mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee,
no Employee shall be assigned on-call duty for:
(i) more than seven consecutive days;
(ii) more than 72 consecutive hours; and
(iii) where possible, not more than one weekend in four, or in any event
no more than two weekends in a five week period.
You'd have to see if you can find out what collective agreement is in place for that position and see what it says.
Thank you! :)
