Hello Everyone!
I've finally decided to create a forum for those who are planning to or have already applied to Broward's part-time nursing program.
I'm currently working as RE Administrator & have decided to switch careers. I'm so excited that Broward College has now decided to introduce this program as I was willing to commute back and forth to Palm Beach State for their part time program.
Did anyone submit their applications as of yet? I'm planning to take the HESI exam at the end of August. So far I'm looking at a 3.36 GPA, and I'm a little nervous about that because I know the competition will be STIFF; I'm not even sure if my GPA is strong enough. I've already completed Microbiology w/lab I'm not sure if that would be taken into consideration.
Is there anyone else looking to apply to their part time program for January 2020? If so, have you already completed your application?

Hey futurecrna26 !
So I believe I have the same GPA and I passed the HESI exam and turned in my application last month. I too am a bit nervous and hope to get in. I also completed my Microbiology w/lab at palm beach. I heard about the part time program after turning in my application and I believe I can still request the part time program, just not sure if I want to go full throttle into the full time...Still thinking about the two options. I think the part time program is 2 1/2 years?

Hi ktorres773,
Congrats on completing your application! I haven't taken the HESI as yet, I plan to take it September 12. How was it?
If you are thinking to apply to the part time program, you may want to reach out to a counselor and have them update your application. Also, I was told the part time program is 10 semesters ( a little over 3 yrs)

Hi! I took the HESI earlier this month at BC. I thought the anatomy and physiology portion was easier than I expected (especially since all the info was fresh from the courses!) and the questions were general. The math was somewhat challenging. The questions I had were basically ALL fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), ratios, and conversions! I didn’t know all of my conversions like pints, quarts, cups, gallons, etc. and you definitely want to memorize those! The other sections weren’t hard. Review the elsevier book. They show you how to do long division again and stuff which is not something I’d waste my time on since you have a calculator. Instead make sure you know things like how you convert mixed numbers to improper fractions, dividing fractions (same change flip), etc. Good luck!

Hi mashley89!
Thank you so much for your feedback! You definitely helped me a bit. Are we timed on the exam? Did you submit your application already? Are you looking to apply to the part time or full time program?

I believe you have three hours on the exam. You can complete the sections in any order that you'd like. I started with the sections that I thought would be easier for me (grammar/vocab) and I left anatomy and physiology for last. I did submit my application last month, but for the full-time program. I considered the part-time option, but really would like to finish the full-time option. I hope the HESI went well if you took it already.

Hi futurecrna26,
I just applied today for the nursing program and submitted two applications, the full time and part time application. I'm a little undecided on which route I would like to take, but am glad I was able to submit both just in case.

Hello! I wasn't aware that we can apply for both. Will you be disqualified for one if chosen for the other? I also found out that they are going to close the application process on the 27th but that they will make decisions beginning October and the part time program is at the North campus.

Yes, you can but you can't choose them both in the same application. You would have to submit a second application to choose the other option. I told her I was undecided on which one to pick and asked if I can choose both in the meantime until I can make up my mind and she said yes but you have to pay application fee twice, and when acceptance letters are sent out I would need to make my final decision then. Yes they did extend it but they haven't updated it on their website yet. I was planning on going to north campus regardless so knowing the part time would be there makes it even better.

Hi Maugustin!
I did not know we could have submitted an application for both full-time and part-time program. Also, I'm a bit disappointed that the part time program will be at North as the Central campus is closer to me. Do we know how many students are they selecting?

Yes I didn't either until I asked. I don't know how many people are being selected but she stated that it's starting off at north campus and depending how the program does they will expand it to the other campuses.
Is anyone else having anxiety as we wait for this decision email? I've been constantly refreshing my BC email. I wonder how long before a decision is made?
