Parkland Co. College

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all! I am new to this site. I am a recent grad of the U of I here in Champaign (Go Illini!) and I am getting ready to go to Parkland to get my RN in the fall. I was just wondering if any one had went there or knew anyone else who has. I have heard that they have a great program. Also, for any nurses working in the Champaign area opinions would be great as well! Thanks!!!

Oskee wow wow!

I have also heard that Parkland's program is fantastic and that the hospitals in the area are great places to work. I am here on the East Coast and hoping to one day return there for work. Good luck!

Thanks! I will not find out if I get in until November for the Spring semester. I have talked to a couple people that said it is pretty competitive. The lady in the department told me that they had over 400 apps and only took around 50 or 60. So I am *crossing my fingers*.

That seems to be the story all over the country. The community college here had 800 apps for this fall's class of 50.

I was accepted to an accelerated BSN program here that takes 30 people, and I heard there were over 500 apps.

If you do not get accepted, and are interested in courses online, you may want to check out Deaconess College of Nursing in St, Louis. THe ASN program is entirely online, but the drawback is you have to find a hospital willing to do all your clinicals. I am researching this option as online classes are much more attractive to me at this point.

THE miracle of the internet!

Good luck.
